For those of us who don't know, myself included, the definition of requiem.
Good morning! For those of you who don't know, this blog Requiem for a Tuesday, has been an incredibly long time coming and long overdue. Now, I have to give credit to my cousin, who started her blog earlier this year. It's something she and I planned on doing, you know, New Years resolution type stuff, that only half of us accomplished. I'm definitely proud of her for going through with it; she's a great writer and way more invested into this stuff than I am as I've opened numerous blogs in the past (hopefully to be lost in the World Wide Web and never found again). She follows YouTubers and reads blogs of her own; I just find myself wanting to create an online presence and perhaps strike it big with this collaboration of everything I enjoy (hence the tagline). Since hers has been up longer, she's had the chance to document a couple of our endeavors as well as her own. I'm sure a majority of the things I will post will be quite dated by the time I get them to a post. (FYI, I'm referring to any #ootd). By the way, I can't talk about her in such great detail without letting some advertising, so you should check out her blog here.
The origin of my blog's name comes from one really awesome and seemingly reputable source, NBC's Parks and Recreation. Requiem for a Tuesdayis a pretty great title, so I'm shocked no one took it up as a hipster name for their tumblr. How is Parks not as popular as it should be? Anyway, spoiler alert, in the episode "The Comeback Kid," Ben Wyatt, played by the lovely Adam Scott, finds himself unemployed (hah, wonder how I can relate...) and seeking direction. Forgive me for not watching the episode for direct quotations, but he decides to take up a hobby/passion of his with his newfound time: claymation. Ben spends about two or three weeks producing and directing his movie; he creates a character and, from what I can gather, has a plot in mind for the story. He takes pictures of every movement of the clay figure and creates the composite piece to show off his hard work to Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Chris (Rob Lowe).

NBC
Ben, very proud of his claymation, gets a visit from Chris and is very excited to show him what he's been doing in his spare time. Come to find out, the "claymat" (that would be pronounced "clay • mache") was "litrlly" (say it like Rob Lowe) no longer than 3 (?) seconds. Ben is absolutely distraught when he realizes that he worked so hard for a few seconds of video, and while he was so proud of himself--he claimed "Requiem" was 'better than Avatar'--he ended up having to go another route with his time and career. Watch a clip here. (Sorry, having some major embedding issues.)
Now that you have the etymology, I'll briefly overview the future contents of my blog. This blog will consist of topics about which I am passionate, i.e. fashion, food, relationships (wish me luck), entertainment, faith (no pun intended since it's my name) and if I can develop enough patience, beauty. In short, it's your average lifestyle blog. I definitely want to include struggles of my own because my life at this point is an open book. Someone's life might seen picture perfect on Instagram, but that doesn't always reign true. I constantly have to remind myself of this. To my readers, whoever you are, I want you to know that I am just your normal twenty-something who is trying to be a little trendy, document life and have fun. As in my eternal mantra, make it feel like the first time. Thanks JB.
